The Hysterics Collective is a grassroots feminist comedy group. We’re here to transform stages into inclusive spaces. We’re here to have fun. We’re here to laugh. And we’re here to assert an anti-oppressive presence within comedy.

We are dedicated to producing shows that are envisioned, produced, and performed by anyone with “a tendency to cause trouble” within the mainstream comedic narrative. We operate by a non-hierarchical and community-based framework that connects and supports funny folks and all those who wanna laugh.

Agnes Gets Hysterical is a collaboration between Agnes Etherington Art Centre and the Hysterics Collective. Aligned with the Collective’s mission, this initiative seeks to disrupt the mainstream comedic narrative with diverse voices and punch-up comedy that raises feminist consciousness and strengthens community. Getting hysterical also ensures Agnes doesn’t take herself too seriously either! This series of video performances “riff-off” artworks in Agnes’s exhibitions and permanent collections.
